Colorado State Capitol
Based minutes from Staybridge Suites Denver Tech Center, the historic Colorado State Capitol has presided over state business for more than a century. (Image right courtesy Denver CVB -Bob Ashe, photographer) The building is open to the public for free weekday tours, including:
- The Dome Tour—a 99-step climb into the golden dome, providing a 360-degree panoramic view of Denver and the Rocky Mountains.
- Mr. Brown’s Attic—an exhibit area between the Capitol’s third floor and the dome, devoted to the state’s pioneer history, capitol construction, the legislative process and an interactive space for children.
- Legislative Tours—only available during the legislative session (January through May) the orientation for students can include a visit to both House and Senate galleries with a potential lawmaker visits. Reservations are required.
- Historical Tours—offered on weekdays, these tours take Capitol guests through the state’s early history, capitol construction, past the Women’s Gold Tapestry, stained-glass windows and end outside the House and Senate chambers.
